Visual Novel Mode
Visual Novel Mode shows the Game Master’s narration as a cinematic, step-through scene instead of a chat transcript. How you play doesn’t change. You still type as your character in the same chat. It only changes how the GM’s replies are shown back to you.
Turning it on and off
Look at the row of buttons next to the chat input and click the Visual Novel toggle, the small icon button there. Click it again to switch back to the regular chat. Your choice sticks for that game, so you can leave it on for a whole session.
How characters appear
What you see when a character speaks depends on the art that character has:
-
Expressions with cutouts — the character appears as a full figure in the scene, and their face changes to match the mood of each line.
-
Expressions only — their portrait swaps between moods as they speak.
-
A single image — their one portrait shows for every line.
See Character Expressions for how to give a character more than one look.
