In this update, we make content in Craft safer and easier to discover. We also gave the whole site a refreshed layout and style!

A New Look

We’ve been sporting the same home page in the platform since alpha, and we thought it was time to refine it.

• Highlighting Content: We thought a lot about how to highlight the most important part of our platform, the amazing content you all create. We redesigned world cards to show larger cover images, and simplified the site background and removed the grid pattern so your content stands out even more.
• Content Discovery: We want to connect players with the content they are looking for, so we’ve added a personalized For You feed on your home screen and Discover tabs. For now these use fairly simple algorithms based on the interests you indicate, but we’ll be tuning these over time to get better as more content is created on Craft.
• Navigation: We shuffled the site layout a bit, you’ll notice a new top nav and sidebars depending on where you are. It might take a second to get used to, but we think this is a more intuitive layout. We also added a global search bar to make it easier for you to find the content you’re looking for.

Content on Craft

We want browsing Craft to feel like browsing a good book or game store, a magical placed filled with all sorts of content. Players should be able to find the content they want without running into content they find inappropriate, and on the flip side, creators should be able to publish content that contains mature themes. What we do not want, is for the platform to become a home for extreme, pornographic, or overly sexual content. If that’s what you’re looking for, there are plenty of other places and AI platforms on the internet made for that.

Up until now, we have had a policy that NSFW content is not allowed to be public. This was too binary, and had these issues:

1. Some genuine content would not be allowed on the platform. Under the previous rules, content like Euphoria, 50 Shades of Grey, or Heated Rivalry would have been banned.

2. Some creators would find ways to sneak NSFW content in, which means that people who do not want to see that content would be more likely to randomly stumble upon it, and it made it harder for us to moderate.

You can read our new content policies in full here. The tl;dr is that we expanded the Content Policy into a full Content & Moderation Policy that makes it clear what type of content is allowed on Craft. We also defined new content ratings, General, Mature, and Explicit, and lists what cannot be shared publicly at any rating. While these types of determinations are always somewhat subjective, we hope we've reduced the gray areas. With these new policies and ratings, Craft will be a safer place to create and play AI RPGs.

Auto-Review

Every world you publish publicly will go through our Auto-review system and will be given a content rating, as well as additional metadata such as tags. The auto-review system uses our content policy and grades the content in your world against it to produce a rating. Every world is auto reviewed on publish, and will be reviewed again on every update. You can see the results of your review in your project settings.

The new auto review system will now automatically determine the tags for your project, and you will no longer be able to apply your own tags, but our automated system will apply anywhere between 3-10+ tags for you. You will be able to remove tags if you don’t think they are relevant, but you cannot add any on your own. We are doing this because we want to make sure that player’s looking for content are seeing relevant content. User selected tags can be abused or mistagged, which can cause irrelevant content to show up when players are looking for something specific. We have found these ratings and tags to be quite accurate in our testing, but if you find that your world is rated or tagged incorrectly please let us know.

A New Discover

Discover used to be a simple sorted list. Now that every world carries a rating, a game type, and tags, it can be sorted and filtered by what you actually care about, and it can learn what that is.

• Added content ratings controls you can change in your Discover tab filters. Explicit content is disabled by default. To enable the explicit filter, you must turn this on via your profile settings.
• You can now set interests in your profile setting, which will affect what you see on the home page and Discover.

We hope these changes make it easier for players to find the content they are looking for, and for creators to be discovered. We have a lot more planned for helping creators get discovered, such as a trending algorithm and leaderboards. More to come on that soon!
