Patch Notes B0.027 - GPT Luna, Updated DeepSeek, And More!

Static Game Starts

CleanShot 2026-07-31 at 14.36.03@2x.png

We've made some updates to the way static game starts work. You can now add narration beats with expressions from the GM or specific characters. The quick add comes preloaded with any character in that location. You can also set different starting conversations depending on which character the player picks. You can also create and update static game starts through Orbit or the CLI.

With this update, static game starts are recommended over dynamic game starts. Static game starts have a couple key advantages over dynamic game starts: they're instant, and you also get full control over what happens.

GPT Luna

OpenAI recently lowered the price of Luna by 80% (permanently), and we're giving you another 50% off on top of the 80% reduction for a limited time (TBD). Luna is now the best value model in the lineup, only slightly more expensive than Hy-3, but much better. We have made it the new default model.

With Luna, we estimate that the base $20 subscription can get you 3-6 hours of play time per day.

DeepSeek V4 Flash 0731

DeepSeek has also released a new model version for DeepSeek V4 Flash, at the same price point but now much more intelligent than the previous version. It's intelligence is better than the current DeepSeek v4 Pro, and nearly on par with Opus 4.8 and the new GPT Luna model. It has replaced the previous DeepSeek v4 Flash Discounted endpoint, and we've removed the non discounted DeepSeek options as they're no longer competitive at their price point with some of the latest releases.

With the new GPT Luna and DeepSeek v4 Flash, we now have near frontier intelligence at a much more affordable price. Hope you enjoy!

Improved AI Efficiency

We've made some changes in the AI harness that improve token efficiency when using the assistant by 20%+ and the GM by ~5% since last week. Your energy should now go a bit farther than before!

Improvements and Fixes

  • You can now generate TTS as soon as the first piece of narration shows up, you do not have to wait for the generation to finish anymore.

  • Added in-game button for player's handbook in the top left corner of the screen

  • Added dedicated GM dice-roll cards that show illustrated dice, roll formulas, character portraits, and dice results.

  • Published system manuals now stay tied to the release they shipped with.

  • Improved system showcases with clearer navigation, better phone layouts, touch-friendly actions, and visible like counts.

  • Improved project search with a visible loading state, file thumbnails, cleaner excerpts, and more focused match context.

  • Redesigned image generation into a clearer two-panel flow, with better reference slots and a mobile bottom drawer.

  • Made GM instructions searchable and collapsible so individual rules are easier to find and edit.

  • Fixed dice rolls that could freeze, stall, or misread cocked dice, while reducing the cost of idle dice scenes.

  • Added a clear, interactive empty state when a map has no background image.

  • Sorted the New File menu alphabetically.

  • Assistant file reads and writes now appear as readable, path-based cards instead of raw data.

  • Fixed assistant runs that could get stuck repeating the same failed action and now explain when the run stops.

  • Fixed character creation sessions that could hang or finish without a usable character.

  • Improved inline editing of files so there's less layout shift when adding content to grids, and many updates within a short period of time are grouped together.

  • Added automatically generated map backgrounds for locations created by Orbit, and made location links in chat open directly in map view.

  • Polished the workspace and game product tours with clearer guidance for version history, sharing, Orbit, handbooks, and core play controls.

  • Made Orbit's question panel collapsible in the assistant chat.

  • Fixed account setup returning an error when a username was already taken; the dialog now stays open and names the conflict.

  • Fixed long descriptions and author notes overflowing Discover pages on phones.
