Player's Handbook · Chapter 5

Resolutions and Remnants

A Hunt ends through a Resolution: a defined ending with requirements and an outcome. Slay and Capture are common; Huntcraft also supports Banish, Seal, Cleanse, Pacify, Contain, Drive Off, Bargain, Disconnect, Cure, or any ending appropriate to the Quarry.

Before the final action, check the Resolution's requirements. Missing access remains a visible obstacle: the Anchor is hidden, the target can still flee, the pact remains active, or the core is still shielded. Create that access or pursue a different ending.

Once the requirements are satisfied, the final uncertain action is resolved normally. If you succeed at the action that completes the Resolution, apply its listed outcome. Huntcraft does not hide a second secret roll behind a successful ending.

Remnants are optional aftermath: material, evidence, residue, data, trophies, or other persistent consequences a Hunt leaves behind. Hide, ectoplasm, machine cores, curse residue, and captured samples all qualify when their acquisition conditions survive the ending. What you destroy, cleanse, shatter, release, or preserve determines what remains.

The route to an ending changes what survives it. The safest Resolution may not preserve the most useful Remnant; a profitable route may be harder, and a compassionate one may leave a different kind of resource than destruction.
