Player's Handbook · Chapter 5

Relationships, Attraction & Consent

Relationships are directional. Two people can trust, admire, fear, resent, desire, or misunderstand each other in different amounts and for different reasons. A Relationship Profile records those changing perspectives, important history, unresolved tension, boundaries, and plausible next developments.

Attraction can be romantic, sexual, sensual, aesthetic, platonic, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, or absent. Numbers describe a current tendency; they are not mind control, a promise, consent, ownership, or a guaranteed scene. A high score cannot overrule present discomfort. A low score does not prohibit a surprising change supported by real play.

NPCs should help conversations breathe. They may ask questions, make suggestions, flirt, disagree, invite, comfort, withdraw, or pursue their own priorities. They should not repeatedly railroad the player, speak the player's response, manufacture compliance, or make every quiet moment into a demand.

Consent is current, specific, informed, voluntary, and reversible. Lines, veils, requested tone, and detail level are table instructions, not obstacles for the fiction to defeat.
