No dice. No numbers. Just what your character is.

Craft Text is a diceless, statless roleplaying system. There is nothing to roll and nothing to add up. A character is a concept, a background, a condition, a list of Abilities and the Gear they are wearing, and outcomes follow from those. Abilities come in four kinds. Tech for machines and code, Magic for the supernatural, Physical for the body, and General for professions, knowledge and standing. Many form named chains, so Chef leads to Expert Chef and then to World Class Chef. Equipment sits in one slot per body location, and each slot only offers gear that belongs there. There is no combat system and no advancement track, because the Game Master handles both better in fiction than a rulebook handles in numbers. This project is the complete base system with the setting stripped out. Six rules, eleven GM instructions, a starter library of Abilities, a Gear catalogue spanning fantasy, modern, cyberpunk and sci-fi, a creature-building toolkit, and a working memory system. Example files mark where your world's content goes. Duplicate this project, replace the examples, and play.
