What This System Is For
Craft Text is a complete game system with the setting left out. It is built for a Game Master who wants the story to be the only thing being tracked.
There are no dice, no statistics, no formulas and no numbers anywhere except the memory system's internal counters. A character is a set of text fields, a list of Abilities and a rack of equipment slots. A creature is a description and a Threat word. A sword is a description and, sometimes, one interesting sentence.
There is deliberately no combat system, no initiative, no advancement track and no economy. Those are all things a capable Game Master handles better in fiction than a rulebook handles in numbers, so the rules stay out of the way and tell the GM what the files mean instead.
What you get out of the box is a system, a starter library of Abilities, a large catalogue of Gear spanning four genres, and a bestiary toolkit. What you provide is the world.
