Attributes and Skills

An Agent is described by seven Attributes and eighteen Skills. Between them they cover everything a person can attempt.

The seven Attributes

Attributes are rated 1–12. An unaugmented human averages 3 and caps at 8; only transhumans and xenos climb past that.

Toughness	Soaking damage, enduring hardship, poison and vacuum
Agility	Aim, balance, speed of hand
Initiative	Reflexes, reaction, close-quarters footwork
Willpower	Resolve, faith, resistance to the warp
Intellect	Knowledge, deduction, technical work
Fellowship	Command, charm, deceit, presence

Rating	What it means
1	Crippled or absent
2	Below average
3	Baseline human
4–5	Trained, notable
6–7	Exceptional; transhuman territory
8	The human ceiling
9–12	Astartes, greenskin warlords, things that should not be

The eighteen Skills

Skills are rated 0–8 and each is governed by one Attribute. Your pool is the two added together.

Insight	Fellowship	Reading a person's intent
Intimidation	Willpower	Threat, presence, breaking a will
Investigation	Intellect	Searching, deducing, following a trail
Leadership	Willpower	Command, rallying, holding a line
Medicae	Intellect	First aid, surgery, diagnosis
Persuasion	Fellowship	Argument, negotiation, appeal
Pilot	Agility	Ground vehicles, flyers, void craft
Psychic Mastery	Willpower	Manifesting powers
Scholar	Intellect	Lore, languages, history, heresy
Stealth	Agility	Moving unseen and unheard
Survival	Willpower	Wilderness, foraging, tracking, enduring
Tech	Intellect	Machines, cogitators, the Rite of Repair
Weapon Skill	Initiative	Every melee weapon

Passive Awareness is half your Awareness pool, rounded up. The GM uses it when you are not actively looking — which is most of the time, and always at the worst moment.

Derived statistics

You never write these down by hand; they follow from your Attributes and your armour, and the sheet keeps them current.

Statistic	Formula	What it does
Defence	Initiative − 1	The DN an enemy must beat to hit you in melee
Resilience	Toughness + armour rating	Damage must exceed this to wound you
Resolve	Willpower − 1	The DN to resist fear and mental attack
Determination	Toughness	Damage you can soak by spending Wrath
Max Wounds	Tier + (Toughness × 2)	How much punishment you survive
Max Shock	Willpower + Tier	Fatigue, fear and near-misses
Influence	Fellowship − 1, plus Archetype bonus	Pulling strings and requisitioning gear

Tests worth rolling

Ask for a roll when failure is interesting and success is uncertain. A Scholar test to recall which saint a shrine honours is a fine roll if the answer changes what the warband does next, and a waste of everyone's time if it does not. When in doubt, tell the player what a failure will cost before they pick up the dice.
