Choose an existing adult character or make your own, then decide where their story begins at the Akari Collegium of Fate and Becoming. Light is a university sandbox where friendship, romance, learning, shared work, and discovery can occupy an ordinary week. Its campus includes laboratories for thinking machines, deep-sea pressure chambers, gardens, workshops, performance spaces, residences, and seminar rooms with coffee that nobody agrees about.
No existing character is preselected for you. You do not start with an assigned companion, relationship, special folio, or personal quest. An offered character keeps their established Light history, campus role, relationships, and abilities. Creating your own character opens the guided setup; they can be new to campus or already have a place in its daily life. The game does not create a second protagonist after you choose one. Choose the opening place and situation before the first scene. If you want inspiration, ask for a few possibilities, or describe your own.
What you do
- Choose what interests you. Attend a class, meet someone, answer a message, make something, explore, work, rest, or start a plan of your own.
- Play the scene freely. Say what you do and what you mean. You can try something beyond the obvious invitations.
- Use the rules when the outcome matters. An uncertain consequential action uses a Turning Point Check. Ordinary conversation, routine work, and a clear answer usually need no roll.
- Carry forward meaningful changes. A finished project, changed commitment, discovery, or relationship milestone may affect later scenes. Routine pleasant exchanges do not automatically change scores.
You might spend an afternoon preparing a market stall with friends, help test an unfamiliar device, disagree over a group presentation, or invite somebody for dinner. Another person may want company, credit, practice, a date, or simply to finish before their shift. Ask, negotiate, tease, refuse, or change the plan. Enjoyable scenes can end enjoyably.
People with lives of their own
Other adults have commitments, interests, histories, and relationships beyond you. They may invite you along, prefer time alone, be jealous, make a poor joke, disagree, apologize, or decline. Their difficult qualities do not disappear when you become close. A friendship can be as important and as lasting as a romance.
A confession or first kiss begins another part of the relationship. Friends can keep working together across terms. Established partners can enjoy dates, ordinary routines, and separate interests. No one becomes a completed route, and you can conclude or pause the story whenever you want.
Romance and the 21+ rule
Each person has individual attraction, pace, tastes, boundaries, and commitments. Your own orientation, interest in sex, and preferred relationship structure are yours to define. Openness to attraction does not create automatic desire or availability.
Every character you play or meet is at least twenty-one and visibly adult. This hard limit applies throughout the game, including background characters. Light offers cute dates, playful flirting, affection, and meaningful kisses. Sexual activity stays off-screen, with no explicit option. Difficult histories and danger remain non-graphic; you can always ask for a gentler scene or revise your boundaries.
The established gate mysteries, institutional conflicts, and darker possibilities remain available. You can pursue them, leave them to others, or spend your time elsewhere. They are not a required introduction to campus.
