Making a Character
A Lifeborn character is a person, not a class. Your campaign may offer a ready-made character, a guided creation flow, or an open character-creation start. The world creator decides which options are available.
A useful starting character establishes identity, age, current location, background, important relationships, work or education, resources and the possessions that would plausibly be part of that life. Starting circumstances do not need to be balanced against another character. A struggling student and a wealthy surgeon can both be valid starts because their different opportunities, responsibilities and risks are part of the game.
Skills
Learned abilities use a 0–100 competence scale: 0–9 Untrained, 10–24 Beginner, 25–39 Basic, 40–54 Competent, 55–69 Skilled, 70–84 Expert, 85–94 Master and 95–100 Elite. The number describes competence; it is not a percentage chance to succeed.
Background should justify starting skills. A professional driver should feel substantially different from someone who has never driven. High competence protects routine performance instead of forcing constant checks.
