Player's Handbook · Chapter 6
Items and Possessions
Lifeborn separates an Item definition from a Possession. An Item describes what a kind of object is. A Possession represents an actual object or stack of objects in the world: who holds it, where it is, how many exist, its condition and relevant ownership details.
If your character picks up an object and the action succeeds, the world should preserve that change. Giving it away, storing it at home, wearing it, losing it or consuming it changes the same persistent state. Possession does not automatically mean legal ownership: a borrowed, rented, stolen or employer-owned object can still be physically carried by your character.
Inventory is therefore a view of what your character currently carries or wears, not a second source of truth.
