Building a World on Lifeborn
Start by defining the scope of your world. Establish where and when play begins, what kinds of lives the project supports, and how much real-world detail you intend to author versus generate during play. Avoid filling the project with thousands of records before they matter. Create persistent people, places and organizations when they become relevant.
Use Location for meaningful places, Faction for organizations, Character for people, Job and Expense for recurring economic structures, Property for meaningful assets or access, and Item plus Possession for physical objects. Incidents preserve significant events; Relationships and Memories preserve interpersonal continuity; Chronicles compress older history.
Do not encode a storyline that the GM must force. You can create pressures, institutions, conflicts and unresolved situations, but allow players and NPCs to change them.
