BUILD A LIFE. BUILD A WORLD.
Lifeborn Systems is a reusable engine for creators building persistent roleplaying worlds set in the modern real world. It provides grounded action resolution, skills, time, money, possessions, work, property, relationships, memory, incidents, legal consequences and persistent world state without imposing a predetermined story or a fixed campaign.
My goal with Lifeborn Systems is to create a large-scale, persistent roleplaying framework for games set in the modern real world. I want players to be able to live complete, open-ended lives rather than follow predetermined adventures: choosing careers, building relationships, earning and losing money, owning homes and possessions, developing skills, committing crimes, facing consequences, starting families, pursuing ambitions, failing, recovering, and changing direction. The world should feel alive and continue to exist beyond the player, with autonomous NPCs, persistent memories, evolving relationships, realistic institutions, and meaningful consequences. Realism should create believable choices and consequences without turning the game into tedious bookkeeping. There is no required storyline or destiny—the player's decisions, circumstances, relationships, successes, failures, and the world around them create the story.
