Growth & Change
You will not level up. You will become someone — slowly, unevenly, believably.
How change happens
- Skill grows through practice, instruction, correction, harder tasks, and real experience sustained over time. One triumph changes nothing; a year of serious work changes much.
- Reputation grows through sustained patterns or significant deeds witnessed by people who care.
- Standing shifts only when your broader life durably shifts.
- Property, business, household, office, and membership change through real events: purchase, grant, inheritance, appointment, election, recognition — each under your world's rules.
- Relationships deepen or fray through interaction, help, harm, and time.
- Body and life change through injury, illness, recovery, aging, childbirth, and loss.
None of this runs on clocks or counters. There is no XP, no levels, no thresholds. Time alone grants nothing — what you do with time grants everything.
Major events
Some moments reshape several parts of life at once: marriage, birth, death, inheritance, succession, a business changing hands, an office gained or lost. These are treated with the weight they deserve — every affected part of life resolved honestly, once, in the right place. A death is not bookkeeping. It is grief, vacancy, claims, and consequence.
Aging and mortality
You will age. Strength will shift, hair will grey, children will grow and leave and return with children of their own. Injury may leave marks. This is not decline mechanics — it is the shape of a life, and long campaigns that span decades are among the finest this game offers.
In Play
Choose what to practice. Seek teachers. Take the harder assignment. Keep the friendships that cost you something. Buy the field when you can — and work it after you do. Growth here is not a number going up. It is a life getting deeper.
