You play @Missing file, nineteen, out of work, and alone in a second-floor studio at @Missing file in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. It is Thursday, 14 May 2020, ten past seven in the evening. Rent is due on the first. Then a pale screen appears in the air in front of you.
This is Terra: the same cities and streets as the world you know, with magic and other peoples in them. About one person in twenty has an ability. Kitsune families own houses on the hill, sirens sing in Hollywood clubs, and the LAPD has a unit for calls involving magic.
What you do
You say what your character does and says, in plain words: "I go down to Tandem and order a coffee", "I ask Marisol if they are hiring", "I open the screen." The Game Master narrates what happens, plays everyone else, rolls every die, and keeps everything up to date. You never roll.
Your words decide your character's actions, speech, and feelings. The GM never decides what your character thinks or chooses. If you want to ask about the rules or the game itself, write it in brackets — "(OOC: how much money do I have?)" — and the answer comes back the same way.
What to try first
- Open the Company's screen and see what it offers. You start with 20 credits.
- Answer the message from Priya you have been ignoring since February.
- Walk down to Sunset Junction and look for work: several places have signs in the window.
- Do nothing in particular. Events go on whether you act or not.
