The Sandbox Philosophy

Before you add anything to this project, understand what it is: a Marvel tabletop sandbox. The whole design — the file types, the references, the handbooks — exists to serve one idea. Players can create or play anyone they want, and the world bends around them instead of the other way around.

Earth-616 is a homebrew Prime

The default and primary universe is Earth-616, but this is not the comics' 616 and it's not the MCU's Sacred Timeline. It's a homebrew Prime that runs on two rules:

The MCU is the default skin. Structure, terminology, and baseline events follow the films. MCU versions of characters, origins, tech, and events win when they conflict with comics versions. Ultron is Stark-built and vibranium-based; the Maximoffs are Mind Stone experiments; Ultron's first body is an Iron Legion frame.
Comics lore is the expansion layer. Anything the films never covered — deep cuts, side characters, wild arcs — can be drawn in freely, as long as it's rendered in MCU-consistent form. A comics variant only replaces the MCU version when the GM explicitly invokes it as a multiverse-seeded alternate.

This is explained in-fiction by the multiverse hook. Earth-616 is a Nexus Reality: the TVA tried to impose a Sacred Timeline on it and failed, because the reality is too central, too tangled, to prune. That's the license for everything — alternate versions bleeding through, events diverging, player choices rippling. The timeline is alive.

The timeline position

The setting sits after the Battle of New York and before Age of Ultron. The Avengers are formed. Later events — Ultron, Infinity War, the Snap — are seeded but not happened. When you add content, keep it era-appropriate:

Post-NY chaos is current: Chitauri remnants, rebuilding, the world adjusting to aliens being real.
Pre-Ultron means Stark is at his most god-complex-adjacent, the scepter is unaccounted for, HYDRA is hidden inside SHIELD.
Seed futures as hooks, not facts. A Black Order scout can show up; the full invasion cannot.

What this means when you build

Fit the era. A character or faction should feel like it belongs in 2012–2014 Marvel.
Default to MCU. When in doubt, the film version wins.
Use comics for depth, not contradiction. The deep cut is a gift; the contradiction is a bug.
Keep it a sandbox. Content is fuel for stories, not a script. Hooks branch; nothing is mandatory; the players' choices are the plot.

The Character Flow could be improved somewhat, but its effective enough, especially if you know what you want to put down in the final section. Some stuff is pretty janky still but I'm working on it + Map has begun some work, but i haven't got the best grasp of it yet.
