Doctor Who - The Unfinished Universe
Inspired by the Doctor Who Vortex TTRPG, All of time and space, one blue box, and a universe that remembers what you did last time. Be the Doctor, travel as the companion, or find a ship nobody explained to you.
The universe is unfinished, and somebody has to go and look.
You have a ship that was obsolete before it was stolen, a door that opens onto any moment in history, and a rule you have never broken: never cruel, never cowardly.
Three ways in. Be the Doctor, with the ship and the centuries and the promise. Be the companion, an ordinary person three corridors from the person who knows what is happening. Or be nobody in particular, who found a time machine in a place it had no business being, and has to work out what it does before something else finds you both.
Violence is the least interesting answer available to you. Every scene has a way through that costs nobody their life, and the game pays you for finding it.
While it is inspired by the Vortex game, I took some creative liberties to fit it better into Craft's systems. You can travel not only through all of space and time, but into other fictional universes as well. Some non-Doctor Who content has been added for you to discover, but if you want a pure, canon, Doctor Who experience, change the scope in the Campaign file from Expanded to Normal (or tell the GM in OOC to do it).
Each of the three starts plays differently. Pick the one for the type of game you want to have:
The Doctor and Friends (Easy Difficulty, Quick Start): No matter who your character is, you are the Doctor, and the Doctor is exceptional. Your stats will be raised to match, and you'll usually be the cleverest one in the room. The game will push you towards a pre-built adventure, but you're free to ignore it and take the TARDIS whenever and wherever you like.
The Doctor and New Companions (Medium Difficulty, Slower Start): The Doctor has picked you up as a companion, and the two of you will get to know each other and decide on a destination together. Unless you specify which Doctor you want to travel with, the incarnation of the Doctor will be selected at random.
We Got This (Hard Difficulty, Slow Start): You found a ship on your own, don't know what it is, but it's in a form your character recognises, and it can move through time. The GM defines a ship based on your character's background, but you're free to modify as you wish. Still, the ship isn't reliable to begin with, and you're starting your adventures with no guidance, in a ship you just learned to fly.
More content will be added in the future, as I work my way backwards through the Doctors' incarnations, and I'm continuing to fix bugs as I find them. The first couple turns will be slow, but they speed up after the adventure has started up.
