Player's Handbook · Chapter 4

The Nine Stats and Character Creation

A&E characters are mathematically built around the Min-Maxer's Paradox: there are no dump stats. Neglecting any stat leaves a vulnerability in your core pools, because each of the nine performs a function every character needs, regardless of class.

Body

Strength (STR) — brute force or intense physical exertion. Sets Physical Energy: PE = STR × (Level + 4).

Mobility (MOB) — strenuous movement and acrobatics. Sets Movement Speed: MS = [MOB × (Level + 4) × (Size / 1.5)] / 25 — jogging speed in m/s.

Endurance (END) — long-term physical strain. Sets Daily Energy: DE = 3 × END × (Level + 4).

Mind

Intelligence (INT) — memory, precision, strategy. Sets the Skill cap per Feature: SC = [INT × (Level + 4)] / 5. You cannot infinitely dump Skill Points into one Feature — Intelligence decides how good a specialist you can become.

Wisdom (WIS) — active searching or watching, covering fire and suppression, reaction. Sets Passive Awareness: PA = WIS × (Level + 4). PA applies to Risk in certain circumstances, such as when there are hidden objects or characters nearby.

Wit (WIT) — tactics, positioning, outwitting. Sets Bonus Skill Points: SP = [WIT × (Level + 4)] / 10 — the "Wit trickle" of extra Skill Points as you level.

Spirit

Resolve (RLV) — rallying panicked allies, issuing orders, calling upon a patron. Sets Max Morale: MM = RLV × (Level + 4).

Confidence (CNF) — bartering, negotiation, diplomacy, flirtation. Sets Social Energy: SE = CNF × (Level + 4).

Resonance (RSN) — taking a breather. Sets Physical Recovery: PR = [RSN × (Level + 4) × (Current DE / Max DE)] / 5.

Creating Your Character

Baseline human stats begin at 7.0. Roll your nine base stats with 3d12 − 3, rolled nine times — once per stat. If 4 or more of your results are below 18 (i.e., the underlying 3d12 rolls), reroll those dice.

You don't track growth math — ever. The digital character sheet has dedicated, separate fields for your initial dice rolls and for the Stat Points you invest at level-ups, so you never lose track. By simply entering your current Level, the sheet automatically tracks your Stat Point Total and Unspent Stat Points, applying the compounding 4% biological growth behind the scenes:

Final Stat = Base × 1.04^StatPoints

Investing 0 points leaves a stat at its base (1.04^0 = 1). This curves an average human to roughly 10–11 at Level 1 after rolls and sex modifiers.

Your Foundation: Race, Class, and One Wildcard

Your race sets your Base Stats and Size and grants 3 Racial Features (1 primary from the base race + 2 secondary from your subrace). Your class grants 3 Class Features (1 primary + 2 secondary from your subclass) — it never changes your biology. And your Background ("Flare") Feature — one you invent entirely from scratch with your Director — guarantees that no two characters of the same race and class ever play the same way.

That's the character: nine stats, seven Features, and a story. The sheet does the rest.
