Valderra is at war, and no one is coming to save it.
This is not a story about a chosen hero, a lost artifact, or a dragon to slay. It is a continent of fractured kingdoms, old imperial roads, and frontier Marches where ten factions — two born of each people, Human, Elf, Orc, Dwarf and Tiefling — contend for the same soil. Every City flies a banner. Every banner wants every City.
The premise is simple:
The war ends when one faction holds every City in Valderra.
That's it. A City is not a village or a castle — it is an economic heart, a walled hub that feeds the villages bound to it. Hold the Cities and you hold Valderra. Lose them and you hold nothing. The map on the Valderra Region is the single source of truth: its pins show who controls what, and its colors are the war.
You are in that world. Not above it.
You Are Not Mandated to Fight
You are encouraged to join the great campaign — to take up a banner, join a warband, ride with a lord, and help paint the map your color. The game was built for that. The mechanics for garrisons, loyalty, prosperity, and conquest exist to make that campaign tangible.
But you are never required to.
Many lives in Valderra have nothing to do with conquest — not at first, and for some, not ever. You can:
- Keep a tavern on a contested road
- Run caravans as a merchant between Cities
- Farm a bound village and try to keep it Prosperous
- Build homes as a mason where new walls are needed
- Smith, haul, heal, scribe, brew
These are not flavor for a quest-giver. They are the game if you choose them. A stable village that feeds a City matters to the war whether you ever lift a sword or not.
No Fantasy Quests
You will not find a board asking you to clear rats from a cellar for a magic sword, or to delve a dungeon for an ancient prophecy.
If you take work, it looks like the work in Mount & Blade:
- Deliver grain to a Fort before its garrison starves
- Escort a guild caravan through contested ground
- Collect a debt for a Salt Coast harbormaster
- Hunt deserters or bandits for a local lord's coin
- Carry a sealed letter between Cities at war
- Recruit hands for a building project
You do them for money, reputation, and consequence — not because fate demands it. The reward is coin that lets you live, build, hire, or equip yourself for the larger war if you choose it.
Valderra does not need heroes. It needs people who endure.
