Introduction

This manual is for players who want to expand Elvarda by adding new content — new races, new troop types, or new fortified positions. It explains the file formats, the rules that govern them, and the relationships between different file types.

Elvarda's content is built from interconnected files. A race has troops. Troops appear on a troop roster. Fortified positions defend with troops from that roster. Understanding these connections is essential before creating new content.

The File Types

File Type	Location	Purpose
Race	`/Races/`	Defines a playable race — its lore, strengths, and army composition
Troops	`/Troops/`	Defines a single military unit — its level, dice, and combat role
Glossary	`/Glossary/Troop Rosters/`	Lists all troops for a race, organized by level
Fortified Position	`/Fortified Positions/`	Defines a defensive location — its defenders, HP, and difficulty
Location	`/Locations/`	Defines a geographic region (required for a race's seat of power)

How Files Connect

Race
  ├── Troops (multiple files per race)
  ├── Troop Roster (glossary listing all troops)
  ├── Location (seat of power)
  └── Fortified Positions (5 per race, increasing difficulty)

When you create new content, you must maintain these connections. A troop file that isn't listed on the troop roster won't appear in battle. A fortified position that references non-existent troops will cause errors during combat.

Fantasy wargaming on Craft

Elvarda

This is a remake of the Elvarda Mass Combat PBM, and my attempt to bring Wargaming to Craft.

The combat system is cut down and very simplistic as to fall within the data and Array limitations of the system. War games traditionally work on mass data base processing engines to get the level of detail and realism.

The AI is often pushed to its limited running a wargame. If the narration pauses with no obvious question to answer, the command 'Proceed' or continue should resolve most issues.
