Player's Handbook · Chapter 2
Making a Character
Character creation takes about ten minutes. The sheet does the math — you record your raw choices and it adds every bonus automatically.
- Concept. Anyone who fits the world you're playing in.
- Assign stats. Distribute +2 / +1 / +0 across Might, Wit, and Finesse.
- Choose a species. Human is the baseline and grants +3 free General Feats; other species follow the pattern +1 stat, +1 free General Feat.
- Choose an archetype. A single package of bonuses that says what kind of hero you are — Mighty (+2 Might), Tactician (+1 Wit, +1 Finesse), Tank (+10 Health), Magically Enhanced (+10 Mana), and a dozen more. The full table lives in @Missing file.
- Choose a resource pool. Take +10 Mana, Energy, or Stamina. This is your specialty, not a restriction — you can still use all three.
- Health. You start at 5.
- Starting XP. Spend 8 XP on feats, Health, or upgrades before play.
Spending your first 8 XP
A safe opening: put a few points into Health (1 XP per point while under 10) and buy one or two cheap feats from your chosen pool. A 2 XP attack feat and 3 more Health turns a fragile concept into a survivor. Don't overthink it — XP keeps coming, and every purchase is small.
What "rank" means
A fresh character is F-Rank. As you spend XP your stats, pools, and feat list climb the same F → S+ ladder used for creatures — the benchmarks are in @Missing file. Rank is shorthand, not a stat: nobody rolls it, but it tells the table roughly how much world you can take on.
