Making an Adventurer

A 2024 character is three big choices plus six numbers — and this project ships a guided, step-by-step creation flow on the character sheet that walks you through all of it and does every calculation. Here is what you're choosing and why.

Choose a class

Your class is your engine: hit die, saving throws, armor and weapon training, and a feature list that unfolds level by level, read straight off the class file. All twelve classes are here with their SRD subclass — and in this revision every class declares its subclass at level 3, no exceptions. A Cleric like @Missing file still gets divine business immediately; the Life Domain simply waits until 3 to specialize. Casters also gained sharper prepared-spell rules, and martials gained Weapon Mastery — @Missing file unlocks mastery properties on three weapons at level 1.

Choose an origin: background + species

The 2024 revision moved your numbers to your story. Your background now carries your ability score increases (+2 and +1, or three +1s, among its three listed abilities), two skills, a tool, starting equipment, and an Origin feat — @Missing file grants Magic Initiate (Cleric). Your species carries what your people simply are: size, Speed, darkvision, traits like the Goliath's Large Form (@Missing file) — never ability scores. Nine species live in the Species folder, including the Goliath and Orc new to the SRD.

Roll the six abilities

Roll 4d6 drop the lowest six times and assign, or take the standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8). Enter base scores; the sheet applies your background's increases, computes every modifier, and caps totals at 20. @Missing file explains what each ability governs.

Then let the sheet work

Hit points, Armor Class, saves, skills, slots, attack lines with mastery — all computed. At levels 4, 8, 12, and 16 your class grants an Ability Score Improvement or another General feat like @Missing file; at 19 an Epic Boon.
