Marenth: Bronze & Steam
Marenth: a Bronze Age steampunk island locked in by sea monsters. Bronze and steam, slaves and kings, the spear fishing people of the north, the dragon-slave monks protecting the bones of something, and beasts in the deep that remember.
An island of bronze, steam, and salt — ringed by monsters. (Work In Progress)
Marenth is a great island of bronze, steam, and salt; ringed by the Teeth, the deep water where Islebacks surface like islands and smash ships. Ocean travel is limited to the coast. The Kingdom of the Sun builds gears and galleys and buys human beings by law. The mountain kingdom of Erzmark hates slavery and is brutal about everything else. The Karu of the Cradle live off the sea. The Crossroads lives off the backs of slaves. Most people are commoners. The blessed are rare, and the most powerful are treated as demi-gods.
I started building this for myself along with another project: Hero's Bastion. I took advantage of the free Deepseek period and put a lot of time into the two worlds over the free couple weeks. At this point I feel obligated to share because this wouldn't have happened with the free couple weeks. This is still a work in progress (especially the Bronze Steampunk aspect, and I want to add more custom spells, I need more characters, and they need more factions, probably need to work on the world travel mechanic, and did I remember to . . . ). This is a much simpler world in terms of mechanics than some of the deeper CRAFT projects, but I hope you enjoy. Powered by the fast 2d6 Craft Lite system.
The concept of this setting is, in part, designed with idea that ancient peoples' mechanized technology took a step further than it did. Because they had small steam engines. And gear based computers.
