Exciting Storytelling - pacing and momentum
Exciting Storytelling — Pacing & Momentum. No more dead air. No more typing "continue." Most games deliver passable prose but little real excitement. Turns fade into summaries and settled rooms, and the story stalls. This package fixes that, delivering storylines that actually pay off: slow-burn tension, secrets straining toward the surface, and tense "Did that just happen?" moments. You'll be handed something alive to respond to--Momentum you can feel. NPC feel like people, not prompt-waiters — creating friction and chemistry on their own, and suspended tension builds into genuinely shocking reveals. Three files, one job: keep the story alive. LIVE-EDGE (the core) — The pacing engine. Every turn must land on an unresolved live edge — a raised stake, a hanging confession, an NPC already moving toward their own threshold — and passes three gates before it's ever sent. If the player's natural reply would be "continue," the turn fails and gets re-cut. Dead-air turns simply don't ship. It knows when to let a beat breathe, and when to pick up the pace again. SCENE-DIR — Every scene has a job. Structure so scenes advance plot, reveal character, and build tension — never filler. Payoffs feel earned. CHAR-AGENCY — NPCs with real autonomy. They chase their own agendas, react to each other, not just the player, and never wait on your tempo. Notes! Tuning: If the pace feels too strong, change "A turn carries no more than 2 live edges" to "A turn carries 1-2 live edges" LIVE-EDGE is long, but it shouldn't increase turn speed--It can run independently, but I find SCENE-DIR makes the story more focused. The original system was designed to work alongside EMS (Strongly recommended. If you already use EMS, I can provide an EMS tuned LIVE-EDGE file--discord me: silkshakes) The best Core LLMs for storytelling are MiMo 2.6 (Slower) then Deepseek.
